The Municipality of Castrovillari in the Province of Cosenza will implement a pilot project to collect households used cooking oil and transform it into biodiesel. The Energy Agency Province of Cosenza (ALESSCO) will support and monitor the development of this experience.

APEC presented the RecOil Project in a Conference about used cooking oil valorization organized by the Energy Agency Region of Madrid (FENERCOM).

If all Danes collected used cooking oil and fat it could amount to approx. 17,500 tonnes per year and thereby increase the Danish biodiesel production with a third. It would save Danish water treatment plants 50 million Kroner per year as a consequence of people pouring it into the kitchen zink.

RecOil project developed a survey on Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain with the aim to build a behavior profile regarding used oil disposal. Results show householders's different  habits and preferences, leading interesting and useful conclusions that could help in the UCO Collection System planning.
