S.energia has presented the Recoil Project on the 19th of December of 2013, at the Auditorium of the Municipal Library of Alcochete, integrated in the session "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" of the " Energy Meetings" - an annual event themed around energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The "Energy Meetings" constitute a cycle of seminars and workshops divided into thematic months aimed to raise the awareness of the population of the municipalities Barreiro, Moita, Montijo and Alcochete to the urgent need to increase energy efficiency through adopting more efficient behavior and use renewable energy sources, providing in turn, the dissemination of S.energia activities into the local community.

In this session the Energy Agency presented the general framework of the project, and released the strategy of awareness raising to the selective separation of used cooking oil (UCO) in the municipalities of Barreiro, Moita, Montijo and Alcochete, under the RecOil promotional campaigns.

Nowadays the awareness campaign is already being implemented. In a first moment, it has been stamped a set of billboards on the exterior surfaces of vehicles of public transports such as the TCB – “Transportes Colectivos do Barreiro” and TST – “Transportes Sul do Tejo” buses. It has been also projected the RecOil movie on the boats of the career Barreiro-Lisboa of Soflusa fleet. Recoil promotional posters and billboards have been displayed in the streets of the municipalities of Barreiro, Moita, Montijo and Alcochete, and it’s also planned to distribute a leaflet through the municipal water invoices, involving directly 124.000 citizens.

On a second phase, the awareness campaign will be closer to the people, in order to sensitize citizens to the correct separation and selective deposit OAU in oil container placed on the streets, predicting the distribution of hoppers for the collection of OAU generated in their homes. Finally, thematic actions on the cycle of used cooked oils will be addressed on the scholar communities of the region.

It is believed that the strategy presented enable the awareness of a significant number of citizens, affecting the increment of UCO collected by municipal collection systems, and the reduction of this waste dump in the municipal wastewater collection systems.
